First look: 2026 Beta XTrainer update – 250 gets new engine
Beta announce updates to the popular XTrainer 300 and 250c off-road models for 2026 with the 250 option getting a new engine, derived from the X-Pro but with all the trademark rideability of this multi-skilled machine.
The global success of the do-it-all enduro model, the Beta XTrainer, is not in doubt. Available in both the more popular 300cc and 250cc options, it captured a part of the market which had been neglected and it is to the Italian manufacturer’s credit they hit the “easy enduro/capable trail bike” nail so perfectly on the head.
More capable than many of the trail or freeride bikes out there, less focused and expensive than the race-focused enduro bikes, the XTrainer makes off-road accesible in a way few other motorcycles can.
Beta recently announced the 2026 Enduro and motocross model ranges. Learn more about them here:

The smaller capacity XTrainer has the biggest updates for 2026 with a “completely new 250 2T engine”, Beta say, plus aesthetic and functional updates to improve both models including new dashboard/speedo unit and tail light.
2026 Xtrainer updates:
Graphics: the plastic retains the grey colour, updated with new graphics, and white touches
Taillight: XTrainer gets a new LED taillight design which is sturdier than the previous model
Speedometer: the MY26 range is equipped with a new, larger speedometer, which is easier to read and more robust (speed, distance, trip meter, and low oil warning etc on the unit)
250 2T engine: the 250cc engine internal updates make it ride similar to its 300cc sister, Beta say. The crankshaft has a reduced stroke (now the same on the 250 and the 300cc models at 73 x 69.9mm), with an increased bore size compared to the previous model. The new engine also has an updated head with a different combustion chamber, new cylinder and modified transfer port geometry. Plus, the new crankcase houses larger and sturdier main bearings.
The updates mean the torque and linear power delivery of the 250cc is “significantly” increased, without affecting the overall performance. The new crank also affects how the bike handles, beta say, positively affecting it with more centralised weight and lowered centre of gravity.
Transmission ratios: First introduced on the RR X-PRO, second gear is updated to be more useful on the trail and improve gear shifting – particularly to third gear – on both the 250 and the 300 models.
Beta XTrainer model technical highlights:
Lightweight: at just 99kg (dry), the XTrainer is an agile bike, even for novices, easier to manoeuvre at slow speeds and requires less energy from the rider.
Seat height: reduced by 20mm compared to the RR X-PRO enduro range.
Brakes: Nissin, 260mm at the front and 240mm at the rear.
Battery: lightweight, high-performance lithium battery.
Suspension: R16V with 43mm stanchions at the front and progressive linkage system at the rear. The suspension is fully adjustable, the fork offering adjustable spring preload and rebound, and the shock is adjustable for spring pre-load, compression and rebound.
Power delivery: smooth and linear using the Beta Progressive Valve (exhaust valve) which can be adjusted by the rider from an easy external adjuster, allowing engine performance to be effectively adapted to suit a range of riding. Turn the adjuster inward for slower speeds, turn the adjust out for more free-revs.
Map switch mounted on the handlebar: Rain or sun modes can be changed on the fly, to compliment the progressive valve.
Tank: 8.5 litre transparent tank.
Automatic oil injection: located beneath the seat (opened at the touch of a button), no need for oil-fuel premix.
Cooling fan: The fan is mounted as standard on XTrainer.
Electric start
Engine and clutch derived from the RR X-PRO model range.
