The 14th edition of the Bassella Race this weekend in Spain will attract over 1000 riders including Jonny Walker, Mario Roman, Taddy Blazusiak (racing the Stark) and Ivan Cervantes in the Maxitrail category.

Everything is ready for one of the most anticipated dates on the Spanish, if not international, enduro calendar this weekend, February 17-18. The Bassella Race is a giant off-road festival which serves to kickstart the season in Spain for over 1000 riders and many more fans (yes, we know that the national cross-country and hard enduro series‘ have already started).

A 14th edition of the biggest enduro race in southern Europe starts on Saturday with the reconnaissance lap of the route for all categories, while the racing starts at 3pm with the Kids and Classic races followed by the anticipated Maxitrail and Xtreme Races which attract some big names.

Xtreme Race and Maxitrail, great attraction for Saturday

As in previous editions, there are several international stars confirmed for the Xtreme Race, the highlight of the first day, with Jonny Walker, Taddy Blazusiak riding the electric Varg, Alfredo Gomez and the Sherco duo Mario Román and Teodor Kabakchiev.

The increasingly competitive Maxitrail category is not far behind either, with Spanish legends Ivan Cervantes, Gerard Farres, Joan Pedrero and other specialists eager to show the fans what they can do with their 'mastodons' in the enduro.

The spectacular mass start of BR1 on Sunday

The Saturday sprint races will give way to the always spectacular start of the BR1 at 10am Sunday. The main event is a two-lap race with a 100% enduro route, for the participants of the Pro and Pro Junior categories, plus a “Fiends” category for non-competitive riders wanting to enjoy the landscape of Alt Urgell.
