Brad Freeman bosses a list of World Championship riders and a tough opening two rounds of the 2023 British Enduro Championship in Scotland ahead of Jed Etchells and Danny McCanney.

The opening two rounds of the 2023 ACU British Enduro Championship, the John Little Memorial Lossiemouth Enduro runs by the Highlands Enduro Club, dished up a perfect mix of awesome riding, beautiful weather and a masterclass from a world champion.

In what was widely described as a tough opening couple of days, the revamped “BEC” series saw talent fresh from the first EnduroGP of the season including Freeman, Jed Etchells, Harry Edmondson, Jane Daniels (competing with the men), and more.

Fun fact, these riders had trekked approaching 2500 kilometres from the Italian GP in San Remo to Lossiemouth which sits above Inverness on the outer reaches of Moray Firth.

The two days of racing took in a real mixture of going including forest and plenty of sand and mixing in nine tests on day one, seven on day two. It was tough riding on both days with tight check times giving championship riders little or no rest during a five-plus hour day.

For those who don’t know, this isn’t one of the tests, this is how fast you need to travel between them to make the time check!

Brad’s masterclass

Brad Freeman followed up his GP win last week with devastating form in Scotland. Despite not having the luxury of his usual Beta Factory support – it was a DIY bank holiday weekend after all – Brad finished over two minutes clear of second place on both days.

The current Junior World Championship points leader Jed Etchells was equally comfortable in second on both days ahead of Daniel McCanney, now focusing on British series, in third.

More Enduro World Championship pedigree followed in fourth with Youth champ Harry Edmondson ahead of Josh Gotts completing the top five.
