Wayne Braybrook and RAW Enduro named as the new promoter of the ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship for the next three years.

A seasoned competitor in Enduro and Trials disciplines, Wayne Braybook is an experienced pair of hands to take over the running of the British Extreme Enduro Championship – five ISDE gold medals, victory at the Hells Gate, and one of only two official finishers at the Red Bull Last Man Standing speak for themselves.

More recently Braybrook is better known as the boss of RAW Enduro which successfully runs events featured in the British Extreme and time card series including the Ballbreaker Extreme and the Summit Extremes, plus the recent Catterick BEC round.

“After months of meetings and discussions, RAW Enduro is excited to have agreed terms with the ACU, allowing us enhance the professionalism of the highly regarded British Extreme Enduro Championship,” Wayne said.

“Our mission is to provide regulated high-end entertainment for fans, while maintaining a sharp focus on the progression of the amateur scene at grass roots level on the morning of events.

“We are looking for continuity across all the British Extreme events. This will involve maintaining the same multi-lap race format, introducing better signage, having one standard podium area at all events, introducing a ‘mic zone’ where rider interviews can take place pre- and post-race, and having better communication via a PA system at events.

“We’ll also be encouraging commercial partners to invest in the championship for a real-time return on their investment via social media channels and key areas at events. This partnership represents an exciting step in the development of the ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship.”

Fresh start

The British Extreme series has lacked cohesion and suffered with different organisers and competing series’ on the calendar in recent years. It has created a confusing environment for riders from a country which has spawned such big names in the sport of Hard Enduro including Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker, Billy Bolt and the Brightmore brothers.

We hope this fresh start also includes better provision for communications and supply of content for the media to promote the championship to a wider, global audience in order to raise its profile, the rider profiles and potentially make the series more attractive to riders of all levels.

Matthew Edwards-Wear, ACU Secretary General, welcomed RAW Enduro into the governing body of UK motorcycle sport’s promoter family and is looking forward to a positive collaboration.

He said: “We’re pleased to welcome Wayne and his talented team as the new promoter of the ACU British Extreme Enduro championship. For the Extreme Enduro discipline to develop and flourish at all levels, we need experienced former competitors and event organisers to drive it forward.

“Wayne’s passion for Extreme Enduro and the ACU British Championship has been clear from the outset and we’re looking forward to working with him to deliver a bright future for the sport.”
