€5000 grand up for grabs and 50% discount on first time entry fees make the 2022 Gotland Grand National a must do for women racers this year – 3000 riders are already signed up for the annual mammoth Nordic enduro race on October 28 - 29th.

To say the Nordic Sports & Events organisation team behind the Gotland Grand National are keen to get more female riders at the event would be an understatement. Prize money the likes of which we have never seen if we’re honest is set at €5000 for first place, €2500 for second and €1000 for third – that is huge.

Among the 180 women already signed up for this year’s Gotland Grand National, the annual off-road festival and one of the biggest enduro races on the planet, is is Larissa Papenmeier. There’s room for more though and entries remain open.  

With a 50% discount for all woman who have never ridden GGN before and the prize money, this is a “big investment towards our common goal” the organsers tell Enduro21.

They say that numbers of women and girls in enduro is growing in Scandinavia after Nordic Sports & Events began to put focus on it. Hence the whopping incentive of €5000 first place purse for this class but also a general push towards breaking the trend of 95% of riders being male. “Together with seven proud partners, we will now increase the number of girls – woman from 100 to 300 starters.” Says Nordic Sports & Events.
