ISDE
With the 95th edition of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) about to kick-off in Italy next week (August 30- September 5), Enduro21 takes stock of the class of 2021 with the provisional entry list and a handful of fast facts to whet your appetite...
Fast ISDE Facts:
- Since it was first held in 1913 in Carlisle, England the ISDT (and since 1981 the ISDE) has only been halted by World War I and II, plus last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 2021 marks the 11th time Italy has hosted the historic “Olympics of Enduro”. Only Great Britain has more, hosting the event 12 times.
- Italy has a strong record across the classes including the victory in 1981 on home turf when the FIM adopted enduro as a name for our sport.
- On home soil again and filled with fast riders from the EnduroGP World Championship, the host nation starts as a strong favourite for the overall world title with a team of previous World and Junior Trophy winners.
- Team USA, the previous World Trophy holders from 2019 in Portugal, start as main challengers but arrive with a different line-up to recent years. Only Taylor Robert and Ryan Sipes (both previous outright winners) will be familiar to the masses.
- Team GB could have been strong contenders with Bradley Freeman and Steve Holcombe in the line-up but were forced to withdraw early in August.
- Similarly the Australian team, who have been so prevalent in recent ISDEs, will not feature this year due to the ongoing travel issues crossing the Australian border.
- The ISDE has attracted over 600 riders this year from 27 countries. Check 'em out...
