Results Baja Aragón 2024: Hat Trick for Tosha Schareina in Spanish Rally-Raid Classic
Monster Energy Honda rider Tosha Schareina wins his third consecutive Baja Aragón rally-raid, the third scoring event of the FIM World Cup for Bajas, ahead of the young KTM Spain 'rookie', Edgar Canet, and the Sherco rider, Lorenzo Santolino.
After three intense days of racing on the dusty tracks and trails around Teruel, the Baja España Aragón 2024 concluded today with a tricolor podium where the Monster Energy Honda Rally Team rider, Tosha Schareina, confirmed his great current form by achieving his third consecutive victory in the great classic of the Spanish rally-raid ahead of the young KTM Spain 'rookie', Edgar Canet, and the Sherco TVS Factory Rally rider, Lorenzo Santolino.
Tosha Schareina stamped his authority throughout the entire rally by setting the best times in Friday's prologue and the two timed stages over the weekend of 181.2 km and 163 km to achieve his third victory.
The HRC rider finished 4 minutes and 21 seconds ahead of Edgar Canet, the KTM Spain rider. With his second place in this year's Baja Aragón, Canet is confirmed as one of the young talents to watch in the world of raids, having won the 2023 1000 Dunas Raid and secured a podium finish in the Rally2 category at this year's Desafío Ruta 40 in Argentina.
Lorenzo Santolino, an official rider for the Sherco team in the Dakar, took third place on the scratch podium of the 40th anniversary of the longest-running rally-raid in Spain, nearly ten minutes behind the winner. Neels Theric on a Kove 450 Rally and Maritim Ventura on a Husqvarna FE 450 completed the top five in the third round of the 2024 FIM Bajas World Cup season.
Yamaha Pont Grup rider Sara García won the Women’s category of the World Cup, ahead of Aishwarya Madhusudhan Pissay (Sherco) and Tanika Shanbag (KTM).
Edgar Canet was also the winner in the Junior category, accompanied on the podium by Maritim Ventura and Filip Grot (GASGAS). Meanwhile, David Casteu (Husqvarna), Pedro Bianchi (Honda) and Raffic Eid (Honda) completed the podium in the Veterans category of the international championship.
