Results from round two of the 2023 SuperEnduro World Championship in Riesa, Germany, where Billy Bolt got another win after a hard fight with Jonny Walker in what turned to be one of the best night’s racing in recent years – Taddy Blazusiak regroups for a third place finish.

2023 SuperEnduro World Championship round 2 in a nutshell:

• Billy Bolt got off to a flying start, setting the fastest time in Superpole, he needed just 43.5 seconds to complete the technical lap which was two seconds faster than Jonny Walker. The surprise of the night came from Swede Eddie Karlsson who claimed third.
• The first Prestige moto was one of the best races we have seen in a while. Billy took the early lead but when it looked like he was flying away with it, he made a mistake on giant log step and Walker capitalised to take the lead. But a better line in the rock garden one lap later for Billy saw him retake the lead and clinch the first win of the night.
• What a second moto! If the first one was great, the second time the Prestige guys raced proved even better. The reverse grid caused a bottleneck in the first turn that held some of the top riders back while Dominik Olszowy took the lead. From there on Jonny and Bolt ticked off, but started to trade places. Side by side heading into turn one in the sand, they collected each other and went down. The Husky rider was faster to get up and the pair hunted down the lead.
• Billy looked like he had the job done, but he got stuck in the rock pyramid with only one lap remaining allowing Olszowy back into the lead only to throw it away metres later allowing Jonny Walker to take his first win of the season. The first win of any other rider this season.
• Drama followed behind though as Taddy Blazusiak tried to hold off Billy for second at the line, he jinked right, cross jumped and a flying Billy Bolt had no option but to land on Taddy. Somehow they both were ok.
• The last race of the night started with Billy taking over the lead from the night's holeshot king Jonny Walker. But the rock pyramid, which had blighted many of the races through the night, caught Bill out again and tiredness was causing mistake after mistake.
• Jonny set the pace up front and with half the moto done the Beta rider had a 10 second lead on Billy. It looked like it was going to be Jonny’s night, until the rock pyramid proved to be crucial. Jonny got stuck behind lappers, Billy went clean through to steal the lead and remained calm for the last lap to take the win.
• Jonny finished second, but most importantly he proved he can challenge Billy on what was a very difficult track which bodes well for the season.
• Third place, both in the last moto and the overall, went to to Taddy Blazusiak. The GASGAS rider didn’t have an easy night, he was seventh in the first moto and he acted as Billy’s landing ramp in the second moto, but turned it around in typical style.
• Milan Schmueser made the German fans rise from their seats with a comfortable win in the first Junior moto. Schmueser led virtually from start to finish and only the Brightmore brothers where able to match his pace. But passing lappers proved to be hard for them and finally Ashton had to settle with second while championship leader Mitchell dropped to fourth behind Raúl Gimerá.
• In the second moto, Mitchell Brightmore made a good start from the second row to get ahead of his rivals and took a comfortable win. His brother Ashton was second again and Schmueser finished third.
• Ashton took the final Junior moto of the night setting the fastest lap and a start to finish win to claim the overall. Raul Guimerá has had a very good last race with a second place and Mitchell Brightmore third to retain the championship lead. Though he faded, Shcmueser claimed third overall.
• In the slightly chaotic European Championship races, Grzegorz Kargul won the first moto ahead of ex-trials rider Dan Peace and Roland Liszka. The second race saw a pile of bikes and humans in the rock pyramid which brought out the red flag – the results of the last lap prevailed giving Mark Szoke the victory ahead of Dan Peace and Roland Liszka.
• Two second places gave Dan Peace the overall win, not bad for a rider in his first ever enduro, let alone SuperEnduro race. Mark Szoke took second with Roland Liszka third.
