After more than 20 years in charge of KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles in the Iberian peninsula, César Rojo hands over the baton for the KTM AG subsidiary to Dakar legend, Marc Coma.

When the five-time Dakar champion Coma retired from racing in 2015 he took on the role of sports director of the famous Rally where he’d been so dominant, seeing out the event’s final three years in South America.

Since then Coma has spent two years working alongside César Rojo in the position of General Manager of the KTM subsidiary in Spain. Having played a fundamental role in the recent incorporation of GASGAS to the Austrian group, César now hands over the baton of General Director of the KTM AG subsidiary in Spain to Coma.

Big shoes to fill

Marc Coma is not short of experience within off-road sport and of course KTM but he has some big shoes to fill. César Rojo joined KTM in 2000 when the Austrian manufacturer was not yet the successful brand that it has become.

César previously work for Derbi and Bultaco before moving to KTM to establish and grow both KTM and Husqvarna brands (and from 2020 also GASGAS) to make the Spanish subsidiary one of the fastest growing within the KTM AG group worldwide.

“I am aware that taking over from someone like César is an enormous responsibility to be able to live up to him. But I also know that we have an excellent team of professionals at KTM Spain and that working with the firm support of the entire Spanish family of KTM, combined with our strong business strategy and the focus of the KTM AG headquarters in Austria, we will continue to strengthen the presence of the group's brands in Spain,” says Marc Coma.

César hasn’t been pensioned off mind you and will assume the position of General Director of 'Bikes & Wheels' for the Iberian Peninsula and has already started to promote the electric bicycle division Husqvarna and R Raymon.

2021 will see a new range of E-Bicycles launched and marketed along with the GASGAS brand through the extensive network of KTM AG dealers with the aim of turning the brands of Pierer Mobility AG into important players within the E-Bicycle market in the next five years.

In addition, César will continue to manage different special projects for Pierer Mobility AG and will continue to be the representative of KTM AG on the Anesdor Board of Directors and also continue to direct the business of KTM AG in Portugal.
