The world of Rally Raid finally gets back to racing at the 2020 Andalucia Rally beginning this week with motorcycle race teams and riders all set for their first major event ahead of the 2021 Dakar Rally. Ricky Brabec, Toby Price, Sam Sunderland, Adrien Van Beveren are among the riders explaining what it's like to be back racing.

The Andalucía Rally stands as the first and so far only chance for the major teams and riders to weigh each other up and race-test bikes during the 2020 season which has been decimated by Coronavirus. Added to that, all Dakar ‘rookie’ motorcycle entrants must compete an ASO approved event before being accepted which makes the Andalucia race important for riders like former world enduro champion David Knight (HT Rally Team) and ISDE 2019 outright winner Daniel Sanders (KTM Factory Rally team) to prove they have what this sport takes.

All competitors, teams and staff of the event organisers ODC Events were required to check-in at the entrance of the bivouac with a negative Covid test so ensure health safety on the race. October 6 will see the event, which is held without spectators, shift into race mode with a nine kilometre super special for bikes to decide start order ahead of the four-day rally ending October 10. Who finishes where will be crucial given the expected dust over the next few days…
