First look at the 2025 KTM EXC and XC-W enduro and cross-country line-up – bike available from July with colour changes, tweaks to the shock setting and tank mount plus a motocross/enduro hybrid 125 XC-W…but not in every country.

Following the 95% new updates to the 2024 enduro range, the MY25 KTM models are, as expected, going skinny on the “new” this year. New frames, TBI fuel injected two-stroke motors, closed-cartridge front suspension, new body work and electronics…it was all part of that massive update last season.

The most notable change for the 2025 models is therefore a makeover with the purple highlights replaced by silver-grey graphics over predominantly orange bodywork and a black frame.

The seat remains orange, featuring a high-grip seat cover and textured grip strips, which is also on the frame protectors, tank shrouds and bar pad.

New PDS shock settings

At the rear, KTM say handling is “refined” thanks to new settings for the WP XPLOR PDS shock – an improved pressure balance and a lower risk of cavitation they explain. The swingarm also gets an update, with a machined unit to improve the durability of the chain glider.

New tank mounting

Upfront, a new and updated fuel tank roll now secures the tank more firmly in place while keeping the frame protected against scrubbing. At the handlebars, a new on/off switch gear is carried over from the KTM SX range (or the one some of us got replaced on the ’24 models after a recall.

Pre-mix 125 in some European countries

A blip in the press material, depending on where in the world you’re looking, is whether the 125 XC-W will be there or not be there? That is the question.

Where it is, it’s looking like a pre-mix model and for closed course use, so not and EXC enduro model. This is odd given the recent model updates to the Husqvarna and GASGAS ranges both had the 125 in their enduro, homologated ranges with separate oil and gas tanks.

KTM explain the KTM 125 XC-W is designed specifically for competition purposes using the engine from the 2025 KTM 125 SX, but with enduro transmission and stator components from the KTM 150 EXC.

Unlike other models in the KTM two-stroke enduro range, the KTM 125 XC-W doesn't have an oil tank between the fuel tank and steering head, making it the sole pre-mix model. Additionally, it comes standard with a map select switch and all other main components are identical to the KTM EXC range.

Full model range

The 2025 KTM EXC two-stroke range will consist of KTM 125 EXC*, KTM 150 EXC, KTM 250 EXC and KTM 300 EXC. The four-stroke line-up also remains unchanged, with the dirt ripping KTM 250 EXC-F, KTM 350 EXC-F, KTM 450 EXC-F and KTM 500 EXC-F filling the ranks.

The 2025 KTM XC-W two-stroke range consists of the KTM 150 XC-W, KTM 250 XC-W, and KTM 300 XC-W. The four-stroke machine in the range remains the dirt-ripping KTM 450 XCF-W filling the ranks.
