First look: Husqvarna’s new 2025 EE 5 electric kids dirt bike
Husqvarna update the EE 5 electric kids dirt bike with water-cooling and new chassis for 2025 – adjustable power and seat height on the scaled-down “real” motocross and enduro machines.
Husqvarna Motorcycles, sorry, Husqvarna Mobility's EE 5 electric dirt bike has already proved itself to be a great place (along with the KTM SX-E and GASGAS EC-5 equivalents) for kids to start their dirt bike life with great components, controllable (by parents) power and brakes in a chassis which gives a real bike feel before moving onto gears, clutches and combustions engines.
Powered by a capable 907 Wh Li-Ion battery and 5 kW electric motor, the EE 5 has the performance of a 50cc, combustion engine competition but without the noise, maintenance and additional expenses of fuel.
New for 2025 is the water-cooled motor which Husqvarna say offers 30% more running time thanks to more consistent motor temperature. They don’t mention in the press material if this adds weight but we assume a minimal amount for the radiator fluid alone.
In the lowest mode the battery offers approximately two hours of riding time they say with running time affected by the track conditions and up to 30 minutes of riding with full gas option selected.
The worldwide charger connects to any 110 or 230-Volt socket and reaches 80% charge in 45 minutes while a full recharge taking only 70 minutes, Husqvarna claim. Or you can opt for a second battery and do the easy swap while the other one charges.
The EE 5’s new “balanced” chassis can be altered from its standard height of 674mm down to 626mm simply by adjusting the bodywork and seat into the lower mounting points, reinstalling the WP shock in the alternative position, and raising the WP forks through the triple clamps.
Further customisation comes from the WP suspension and the 193mm of travel in the rear shock adjustable for preload, high and low speed compression, and rebound to ensure riders can create a personalised set-up. The 35mm forks have 205mm of travel and are also adjustable for compression and rebound through clicker dials on the top of each leg.
Hydraulic disc brakes, a high-strength, chromium-molybdenum steel frame, NEKEN handlebars and ODI grips are all standard on the 2025 EE 5.
