Pro bike: Team SLR’s classic 2006 Honda CR250R Baja racer
Team SLR Honda restored and prepped a perfect 2006 Honda CR250R for Baja and desert off-road racing – it’s bikes like these that makes us wonder why some Japanese brands ditch two-strokes…
It’s 15 years more or less since Honda stopped making two-strokes and our longing for them hasn’t wavered. Which is why when we saw Team SLR owner Mark Samuels had built a 2006 Honda CR250R, and made an awesome video ripping it through the desert, we wanted to know more.
It’s a CR wearing all the knowledge collected during the many years racing the SCORE World Desert Championship and other American off-road races. Skills and knowledge into adapting the MX model for Baja style races that multi-time winner Samuels knows all about.
A bike “based on the standard model” with a rebuilt the engine and parts including a Garage Buddy kit from Wiseco, a full Pro Circuit exhaust system and an anti-friction treatment for the Showa forks which carry their old Baja settings.
