Bassella Race 2026 Results: Extreme and XC Races? No Problemo for Garcia
Josep Garcia the star of the show at Bassella Race 2026 winning the Xtreme Race on Saturday against specialists like Teo Kabakchiev and Alfredo Gomez, and the main BR1 cross-country Sunday race ahead of Antoine Magain and Theo Espinasse.
A weekend packed with racing, mud, and spectacular riding from more than 1000 riders and for thousands of fans in the Catalan Pyrenees to ignite the Spanish enduro season.
The highlight of Saturday was the Xtreme Race final, which brought together some of the best international Enduro, SuperEnduro, and Hard Enduro specialists.
Josep Garcia once again demonstrated his versatility – now with experience in both the SuperEnduro World Championship and in the WESS series previously – to make the difference on a technical and demanding course.
After four intense laps, the KTM rider crossed the finish line alone, more than a minute ahead of Bulgarian Teodor Kabakchiev (Sherco Racing). The third step of the podium went to Alfredo Gomez (Beta), while Eddie Karlsson (Stark) and Francesc Moret (Rieju) completed the Bassella top five with the podium reflecting the exceptionally high level of competition in the final.

Muddy Sunday: Josep Garcia Dominates
The Bassella Race experienced one of its most epic days this Sunday. A lot of rain this year already culminated in a downpour on Saturday night which meant mud was the undisputed star of the 30-kilometre course.
At 9:30 sharp, the Pro category riders set off. Josep Garcia, like a missile from the front of the grid, grabbed the holeshot and took off to open the track. With a clear path ahead, the KTM rider left the rest of the field behind.
Behind him, Belgian Antoine Magain (Sherco) struggled with problems with his goggles, which hampered his visibility. Frenchman Theo Espinasse, the new Fantic team signing, followed, while the WP Éric Augé team riders – Swede Albin Elowson and Catalan Jaume Betriu – kept pace in the leading group.
Garcia opened up a gap without much trouble. His main concern was fuel consumption, as his KTM had a smaller tank than Magain‘s Sherco. This forced him to consider whether to make one or two refuelling stops. Ultimately, his advantage allowed him to opt for two stops, without jeopardising his lead, crossing the finish line alone with a three-minute, 50-second advantage over the Belgian.

Espinasse made a promising debut with Fantic, taking third place, albeit five minutes behind the winner. Elowson and Betriu completed the top five, delivering a solid performance on terrain where strength and technique made the difference.
The Beta Trueba riders also performed admirably, with Julio Pando and Pau Tomás finishing sixth and seventh respectively, followed by Yago Domínguez, Sam Hughes, and Sigvard Lifvendahl, all from the WP Èric Augé team, rounding out the top 10 in the Scratch classification for the Pro category.
British and Scandinavians made their mark in the Juniors with Swede Lifvendahl, along with Hughes and Albert Fontova on the podium.

Saturday in Bassella: Kids, Classic… and Big Boys in Trail Race
Before the main event, the day was marked by intense activity in the other categories. The Kids Race 125 saw Marco Font (Yamaha) dominate, finishing 50 seconds ahead of Nael Clément (Husqvarna) and Kuba Szeffs (KTM). In the same race, within the Kids Race 85cc, victory went to Joan González, joined on the podium by Àlex Esteban (Alfer) and Juanjo Montoya (GASGAS).
The Kids Race 65cc also delivered some exciting moments, with Marc Pujol (GASGAS) taking the top spot on the podium, followed by Biel Molas (Alfer) and Iker Muñoz (Husqvarna).
Attention was also focused on the Classic Race, where true off-road gems returned to the mud. In Classic Race B, Nil Bussot took the victory aboard a Husqvarna, ahead of Albert Esteban (Alfer) and Gerard Farrés, who competed on a Husqvarna as a tribute to off-road legend Santi Piella. In Classic Race A, Xavier Castey (Bultaco) triumphed, joined on the podium by Isidre Chia and Josep Maria Ortiz, both riding Montesas.

Heavy weights
Meanwhile, the Trail Race brought together more than 30 participants on trail and maxi-trail bikes, tackling a muddy course where, once again, the lighter motorcycles made the difference. Marc Truyols, riding a Macbor, took the overall victory and also the Lightweight Trail Race win, followed by Toni Povedano (Suzuki) and Guillem Inglés (Rieju).
In Maxitrail, Jordi Quer's KTM 890 took the top spot on the podium, joined by enduro legend and Triumph ambassador Iván Cervantes, and Javier Vega on a Macbor.
Finally, in Trail Race Media, Gerard Farrés (Macbor) triumphed ahead of Kirian Mirabet (Honda) and Mario Román (CFMoto), who achieved his first podium finish in his competitive debut with the Asian trail bike, a brand for which he is now an ambassador and developer.

500 “Friends” category
One of the most iconic images of the Bassella Race is the always spectacular start to the Friends categories, with an impressive grid of around 500 riders in a mass start.
The spotlight was on Dakar veteran Josep Pedro, who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia after achieving a great result in the Original by Motul category of the Dakar Rally. At the controls of his KTM, Pedro dominated, finishing ahead of Albert Muñoz (Triumph) and his brother Sergio Muñoz (KTM).
In addition to the overall victory, Josep Pedro also took the win in the Friends 30 category, while Albert Muñoz triumphed in Friends 40, David Gomez in Friends 50, and Román Domènech in Friends 60. In the Women's category, Silvia Piñeiro emerged victorious, with Jordi Casas dominating in Classic and Jordi Vidal winning in Trail.
