2026 Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship round one results: Red Bull KTM’s Josep Garcia holds off Sherco Racing’s Steve Holcombe for the win on day one in Custonaci, Sicily.

EnduroGP Rnd 1, Italy Day 1 in a nutshell:

Day one of the 2026 EnduroGP of Italy in Custonaci, Sicily delivered fiercely close racing across dry, dusty and rocky terrain, with just seconds separating the top riders after over an hour of special tests.

Fastest in Friday’s Super Test, Josep Garcia carried momentum into day one, setting the pace early ahead of Zach Pichon and Andrea Verona, with the top 10 covered by under nine seconds. Steve Holcombe soon hit form for Sherco, topping the Enduro Test ahead of Antoine Magain, while Garcia extended his lead to almost eight seconds by the end of lap one. Despite a broken thumb, Pichon remained in contention, with Magain close behind.

The fight tightened again on lap two as Verona topped the Cross Test, leaving Garcia just two seconds clear of Holcombe, with Magain, Verona and Theo Espinasse all within striking distance. Holcombe pushed hard late in the day, winning the penultimate Enduro Test and final Cross Test, but Garcia responded to control the gap and secure the win. Holcombe took second on his Sherco debut, with Verona claiming third ahead of Magain, while Espinasse was just 0.11 seconds back in fifth.

Time penalty hurts Gutish, helps Martel to maiden EW win

In the Women’s class, Justine Martel claimed her first world championship victory by 48 seconds. Rachael Gutish finished second despite a one-minute time penalty, with Sara Traini completing the podium on home soil and taking the Junior Women’s win.

Elgari debut win in Juniors

The Junior class saw Alberto Elgari take a standout debut victory over Romain Dagna. Elgari moved into the lead mid-race and, despite late pressure, extended his advantage to seven seconds at the finish. Maxime Clauzier rounded out the podium, with Kevin Cristino and Thibault Giraudon completing the top five after early leader Manuel Verzeroli dropped back following a costly mistake.

Impressive Scardina Youth winner

In Youth Enduro, Pietro Scardina charged from seventh to victory. Race leader Riccardo Pasquato held control for much of the day but lost time with a late error, allowing Scardina to take over and secure the win. Pasquato was second, with Simone Cagnoni third ahead of Yago Dominguez and Gabriele Melchiorri.
