Video highlights and results from the 2023 Extreme XL Lagares in Portugal where Sherco Racing’s Mario Roman ticked off another victory ahead of Diogo Vieira.

To say Mario Roman loves Lagares is like saying two-strokes love to smoke. The Sherco rider has clocked up another victory on the infamously slippery rocks stream and climbs just outside Porto.

Adding Lagares as final race-training for the upcoming Hard Enduro World Championship round in Serbia next week, Mario had to fend off Diogo Vieira who knows the course only too well. The Portuguese champ came home just 3.39s behind Roman to finish second with Sonny Goggia a further 10 minutes back.

Mario Roman: “Overall it was a good weekend, I enjoyed riding in Portugal, it was a tough three days of racing, especially Saturday and Sunday.
“The bike worked very good except for a small issue with the rear brake after the start, so I had to remove the pedal and rode the whole race with just with the front brake. In spite of that I was able to ride quite fast due to the terrain not having too many downhills. I felt strong, and I am ready to start the season next week in Serbia.”
