The third race weekend of the DOWATEK HardEnduroSeries Germany took place in the sand of Reetz and one of the best courses in the HESG calendar – Milan Schmueser takes the win.

MotoXEvents, under Patrick Spingat, was responsible for a track in Reetz which brought a lot of praise from riders at the third round of the Dowatek Hard Enduro Series Germany. New obstacles, worn-out parts renovated and a real hard enduro mix on the sandy base venue which included a spectacular “flying” motocross section and extreme enduro technical sections.

The relatively long prologue loop got racing started with Fynn Hannemann initially taking the lead but  slipping back to third after a crash.

Milan Schmueser set the best time ahead of Lenny Geretzky in second, with the current series leader Marc Wulf in a close fourth. Despite the length of the prologue, only 30 seconds separated second-placed Hannemann and 11th-placed Luca Reinhold.

Schmüser and Wulf strong in the group race – Reinitzhuber celebrates first women’s success

In the second group race in Reetz, the women also took to the course although Eva Täuber, the overall leader before the weekend, was defending her lead in the Extreme Enduro Europacup in Croatia (scheduling conflicts with Enduro Panorama in Romania and Extreme Enduro Lika in Croatia meant some riders were not present).

However, Paula Reinitzhuber coped better with the loose, sandy ground and secured her first win of the season ahead of Bittner who is the new overall leader among the women having accumulated more points from the races in Neuhaus-Schierschnitz and Crimmitschau.

Milan Schmüser and Marc Wulf secured the victories in the group races. However, Wulf faced resistance from Lenny Geretzky.

No HESG Kids class raced in Reetz but four 85cc riders (Rübesamen, Hissenauer, Eppelmann, Albert) started in the junior class and showed a strong performance, with Linus Albert (above) making it into the top 20 and qualifying for the final. That made him the first 85cc rider to achieve this feat which is all the more impressive after a broken leg at the start of the year.

80 minutes of action in the final

As usual, additional sections opened up for the final, with three designated as “no help” sections. Milan Schmueser and Marc Wulf started from the front row and initially pulled away from the field. However, in lap two, Schmüser got into trouble at the bottlenecks, causing the field to come back together.

Fynn Hannemann dropped from third to fifth place, which he held until the end. Schmueser meanwhile pulled away from the field again and finally won with a lead of 1:23 minutes over Marc Wulf. Third place went to Felix Bähker, as in the season opener in Neuhaus-Schierschnitz.

Wulf goes into the break as the championship leader but it is tight behind him with Schmueser making up ground with his second season win and is now tied on points with the opening round winner Geretzky for second place, only six points behind Wulf.
