British Extreme Enduro 2026: Mario Roman in Control for Wild Willy’s Win
Mario Roman made it two from two in the 2026 ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship with victory at Wild Willy’s, ahead of Dan Peace and Richard Moorhouse.
A more flowing course at Parkwood Off Road Centre greeted riders for round two of the 2026 Plews Tyres ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship. The venue near Bradford was damp to say the least, but as ever remained consistent and rideable in all weathers. A new course layout weaved its way through the woods and in and out of the central stream.
Soaking up the cold and wet for the second time this season, Roman came, saw and conquered for win number two of 2026. The race followed a familiar pattern from round one, with reigning British champion Peace making the best start and leading the opening lap with Roman on his tail. The Spanish Hard Enduro World Championship regular made his move and set consistently fast laps through the 10-lap race to take the win on his first visit to Tong.
“I’ve raced everywhere in the world,” said Roman at the finish, “and I have to say this is one of the best hard enduro series of all.”
Asked whether it would make a good venue for a world championship round, Roman said, “It would be awesome, it’s the perfect place, it has everything: good crowd, a lot of good features and obstacles, it’s always slippery and muddy…it would be good.” So, you read it here first… it could happen.
The crowd were behind the British riders and gathered around the more spectacular sections of the reworked Parkwood course for this year. Peace kept them happy with second place and, with Roman not expected to contest the remaining rounds, the KTM rider holds the virtual series lead with two second places.
Moorhouse was again dogged in his ride to third overall and clocked in as the only other rider not to be lapped by the winner, with the podium trio all completing 10 laps.
Jack Price and Bert Boam completed the top five, with Radford Chugg and Jason Balmer all one lap down in a race which saw notable retirements including Jack Spencer, Charlie Frost and Connor Watson.
Among the class winners, Peter Collins stood out by winning the Experts class and placing eighth overall with eight laps. Dec Helliwell was best Elite Vet in 24th overall, while Zach Stainthorpe was best in Clubman, 27th overall, both on seven laps.
