Results feed from a dramatic day three at the International Six Days Enduro 2019 in Portimao, Portugal – USA take the World Trophy lead as Team GB drop out.

2019 International Six Days Enduro, Portugal in a nutshell:

  • Day three begins with rain and strong winds as riders scale the Monchique mountain. Opening test conditions suited were slick and threw up some surprises including Albin Elowson winning test two.
  • Resulting chaos in the hills forced organisers to cancel the second lap for the Club Team riders after a bottleneck queues caused delays.
  • As riders were sent back to the paddock, some of the Women's Trophy riders were also caught up in it, causing chaos for all concerned.
  • The biggest team shock of the day was the Great Britain World Trophy team going out of the competition with a big crash from Joe Wootton who dislocated his shoulder. With Brad Freeman already out at the start of the week GB remaining riders Danny McCanney and Alex Snow are riding for individual honours now.
  • Wire wrapped in wheels and legs also played a big role today. Daniel Sanders, who ended the day on top overall once more, was pulled clean off his bike in test one.
  • Josep Garcia meanwhile got his leg wrapped tight enough for him to lose almost a minute. They were not the only ones to find this problem and at the time of writing Garcia is protesting the time lost.
  • Both riders traded test wins but it was a very strong team effort by USA that sees them move in to the lead of the World Trophy category.
  • Team Australia’s Women’s World Trophy squad began the day down to two riders as Mackenzie Tricker had to sit the day out with illness (two riders count in the WWT).
  • Time penalties are affecting many Women’s Teams but particularly Germany who drop from P1 to P5 in two days. USA lead Australia by 1m7s with Team GB Women third.
  • In the Junior World Trophy it is a case of keep on keeping on for Australia and USA who continue to fight it out just over one minute apart. Italy and France have their own fight third.
