Bassella Race 2025 exceeded expectations with 1,200 riders heading to the Spanish endurop season-opening festival Josep Garcia was unstoppable, dominating the weekend with victories in both the Xtreme Race and the BR1.

The town of Bassella in the pre-Pyrenees once again became the off-road capital of Spain with another spectacular edition of the Bassella Race, selling out completely. Riders and spectators enjoyed an unforgettable weekend filled with thrilling races, exhibitions, and activities for everyone, further cementing Bassella’s reputation as the ultimate enduro season kickoff event.

Fully recovered from a recent shoulder surgery, the reigning EnduroGP World Champion Josep García was the standout performer claiming victory in both Saturday’s Xtreme Race and Sunday’s main event BR1.

Saturday: García shines in the Xtreme Race and an epic Maxitrail showdown

The highlight of Saturday was the Xtreme Race, where García showed his WESS Hard Enduro skills haven’t departed, securing the win ahead of Teo Kabakchiev (Sherco) and Francesc Moret (KTM). Eddie Karlsson, riding the electric Stark Varg, finished fourth, while Jaume Betriu rounded out the top five.

Before that, in the Maxitrail category produced an exciting battle between Marc Truyols (Kove 450) and Iván Cervantes (Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro). In the end, Truyols claimed victory in the Scratch race, while Cervantes secured the win in the Maxitrail category. In the mid-sized category, the fastest rider was Marc Solà (Yamaha Ténéré).

The roar of classic motorcycles echoed through Bassella in a thrilling race. In Category B, Sergi Sangrà (Honda XR) took the win, followed by Jordi Casas (GASGAS) and David Gómez (Honda). In Category A, victory went to Xavier Castey (Husqvarna), with Isidre Chía (Montesa) and Jeroni Ribes (Maico) completing the podium.

The youngest riders also had their moment in the spotlight with the KIDS RACE. Arturo Abrines (GasGas) secured the win in the 125cc class, while Montoya Pérez de Azpillaga (GasGas) claimed victory in the 65cc category.

Sunday: Josep García unstoppable in the BR1

On Sunday, the BR1, the main event of the Bassella Race, saw an untouchable Josep García. Starting from third place, he wasted no time making his way to the front, building a gap, and crossing the finish line alone, securing a historic double victory.

Antoine Magain (Sherco) finished second, while the final podium spot was decided in a tight battle between Jaume Betriu (WPEA) and Sergio Navarro (Husqvarna), with the local rider ultimately taking third place. Making his debut with Beta Trueba, Pau Tomàs rounded out the BR1 Top 5, making it clear that he will be a strong contender this season.

In the Junior category, Albert Fontova claimed victory, followed by his teammate from the WP Èric Augé team, British rider Sam Hughes, and Raúl Sánchez, who is making his return this season with the JRB Sherco team. In the Friends category, where riders completed two laps of the 32 km circuit, Guillem Jorba (GasGas) took the win after a tough battle with Eduardo Longas (Sherco) and Ferran Jorba (Montesa).

Despite the time of year, the weather was nearly perfect, with pleasant temperatures and ideal track conditions thanks to light rain in the days leading up to the event.
