Quick Look: Rieju E-Tango – the spanish brand enters the electric game
Rieju has presented the new E-Tango, their first electric off-road bike. Available in two versions, one that can be registered as a moped and the other one just for off-road use with greater performance.
Rieju, known for its Hard Off-Road and Off-Road enduro motorcycles, has launched the new E-Tango 2024, the Spanish manufacturer‘s first electric off-road model.
The new E-Tango is included in Rieju‘s existing electric range and represents, they say, “a firm commitment to sustainable mobility without sacrificing performance or fun for those off-road enthusiasts looking for an ecological alternative”.
The road legal E-Tango
The L1E road legal version of the E-Tango 2024 is equipped with a 4 kW electric motor, which places it in the moped category. It uses 19“ front and 18“ wheel sizes and has 200mm of suspension travel.
This version includes an energy regeneration function and offers three driving modes to adapt to different needs: ‘Turtle‘ to optimize battery life and limit speed and power; ‘Rabbit‘ ideal for off-road thanks to the balance between battery life and performance; and 'Rocket' that offers maximum performance.
It reaches a maximum speed of 45 km/h in its road legal version and has a great range, Rieju says, ideal for long getaways, but they don’t specify it in the press release. Its 43 AH battery is removable and allows fast charging, reaching 100% in less than 4 hours.
It combines the agility and versatility of an e-Bike with the power and performance of a conventional motorcycle – their claim – and has a high-strength steel perimeter chassis, along with a fully adjustable USD fork with 200mm of travel and an adjustable rear mono-shock shock absorber with linkage to ensure good response on uneven terrain.
In addition, the new E-Tango has 4-piston hydraulic brakes that bite onto 210mm rotors, both front and rear, and 19” and 18” wheels, respectively.
The non-road legal version with higher performance
Rieju also offers a non-homologated version of the E-Tango, intended for use exclusively on closed tracks with more gas. This version has a 5 kW motor capable of reaching up to 10.5 kW, offering a more extreme experience to those who want greater performance.
