Californian brand Troy Lee Designs has launched their new 2021 helmet collection – SE4 Carbon, Composite and Polyacrilite models incorporate the MIPS brain protection system.

SE4 Carbon

The top-of-the-range helmet from Troy Lee Designs weighs 1325 grams thanks to its carbon fibre shell and lightweight titanium D-ring hardware. The 20 intake ports channel the cool air around and over the rider’s head an dallow air to exit through the 12 exhaust ports to maintain an optimum temperature in every riding condition. Additionally, the quick-release 3D cheek pads and the washable Dri-Lex liner provide an optimum fit.

There are many colours and graphics options plus a Team model which replicates the looks of the factory teams with all their sponsors along with the TLD graphics, a cool way to make you look like Kailub Russell, Taylor Robert, Ben Kelley or Josh Toth.

SE4 Carbon in a nutshell:

MIPS brain protection system, reduces rotational forces to the brain in some crash scenarios

Anatomical –3D contoured cheek pads with emergency release system for EMS responders

Removable snap-in, washable comfort liner with Cool Max® and Dri-lex® moisture wicking materials

Plastic visor screws and brass inserts for easy impact break-away

Plush SE4 helmet bag matching visor included

SNELL M2015 approved, DOT FMVSS 218 certified

SE4 Composite

As its name states the SE4 composite helmet uses an aerospace fiberglass composite shell and, according to TLD, it has a weight of 1425 grams.  The SE4 Composite features the same ventilation system and liner found in the top of the range SE4 Carbon and has a DOT FMVCC218 certification. The helmet comes with extra graphics matching visor and a helmet bag.

There's also an option to get it personalized. TLD offers the opportunity to include your signature, handwritten or with the chosen typography, for an additional $150 (US customers only we believe).

SE4 Polyacrylite

If you are looking for a more cost-friendly helmet but don’t want to drop to the MIPS system, the SE4 Polyacrylite is an option. It weighs 1500 grams and features 16 intake ports and six exhaust ports to control the temperature inside the helmet.

GP model

With a weight of 1500 grams the new GP helmet is the lower price point of the range and uses a polyacrylite shell without the MIPS rotational protection system.
