The biggest French classic enduro, the AMV Trefle Lozerien, happens this weekend in the spectacular Languedoc region with almost 700 riders including EnduroGP top dogs Andrea Verona and Josep Garcia.

The town of Mende, in the French region of Languedoc, will host the famous French classic this weekend, June 3-5. The 36th edition of “Le Tref” in one of the big events in European enduro and is rightly on the bucketlist for many riders for the incredible riding and very typical French grass tests.

Garcia and Verona vs the French

Lining up among the great and the good of French enduro this year will be Josep Garcia and Andrea Verona who both have considerable form on the grass. Garcia made history by becoming the first non-French winner of the Tref back in 2019 when it was part of the WESS championship and he topped an otherwise British podium alongside Nathan Watson and Jamie McCanney.

Garcia will be joined at the ’22 startline by Andrea Verona, the E1 world champion, who loves a good French grass test. The GASGAS Factory rider has some success at both the Aveyronnaisse Classic and was the winner of the Val de Lorraine Classic earlier this year.

There will be a long list of French champions willing to keep the trophy among their own, such as former winner Loic Larrieu, plus Theo Espinasse, Antoine Basset, Till de Clercq, Fabien Planet, Michael Metge or Emmanuel Albepart among the more than 700 riders on the entry list.

We also find some enduro legends by the likes of Johnny Aubert and Cyril Esquirol, and rally rocketship Xavier de Soultrait who will be racing a KTM 690 – we´ll have to keep an eye on him.

Three long days of competition and 15 special tests

For those who are not familiar with this unique race, the Trèfle Lozérien takes its name from the clover shape that draws its daily loop around Mende. Three long days of competition in which the 14 specials are ridden only once with the final top 30 finishers taking on a cross test.
