2025 Abestone Hard Enduro: New categories and Sprint Race added to HEWC Rnd 3
Abestone Hard Enduro 2025, Hard Enduro World Championship round three in Italy, adds a new Saturday Sprint Race and new categories across the weekend programme this September 6-7.
A new one-hour sprint race, new format, and simplified race categories for everyone from Pro class to Hobby riders see one of the most spectacular races on the international hard Enduro calendar.
Alongside the Sunday finals, organisers will introduce a brand-new Sprint Race on Saturday — a one-hour race designed to extend the weekend’s action for spectators and deliver a new race format for competitors, in-line with some other events on the calendar.
Abestone welcomes both Pro and amateurs, as well as newcomers, to an event which the organisers say is designed to be “a true off-road celebration combining sport, nature, and fun”, as well as serving up the best riders in the world.
Abestone will kick-off a busy late summer period for hard enduro riders with Hixpania, Sea to Sky and Getzen all following in quick succession and a season finale in Lesotho and The Roof (dates below).
2025 New feature Sprint race
On Saturday afternoon at Abestone, riders will compete in a short but intense Sprint Race (1 hour), ahead of the classic Sunday final (2 to 2.5 hours). A fresh way to experience the race, put on a show, and gain visibility, the race organisers say.
Enduro21 understands the plan was to have an extra day racing, to take advantage of the new HEWC qualification race rules (world championship riders taking a maximum 10 for the win, nine for P2 and so on). But in the end had to settle for prologue rules – meaning three points will be awarded for the Sprint Race win, two for second and one for third for HEWC competitors. The Sprint race will decide start position for the main race.
