Seven times World Enduro Champion and current EnduroGP points leader Steve Holcombe has added his name to the entry list at the 2023 Gotland Grand National, the infamous cross-country race in Sweden.

Billed as the world’s largest enduro competition on the island in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Sweden, the Gotland Grand National will hit its 40th anniversary this year. Beta Scandinavia is a partner for the event running from 26-28 October and with the EnduroGP World Championship having concluded by then (last round is in Portugal on October 6-8), Holcombe is free to relax and chill out on Gotland…

Steve will have stiff competition from the Swedish riders like Mikael Persson and Albin Elowson, winners of the previous years GGNs. The brutal three hour main event is only the tip of the iceberg across three days of racing which attracts over 3000 riders.

One incentive for Holcombe might just be the increased prize money this year. The Gotland Grand National has increased the purse for the best men and women who will each take home SEK 75,000 (almost 6500 Euros), SEK 35,000 for second and third SEK 15,000 each.

Henrik Lindqvist from Beta Scandinavia says they have been discussing with Steve and Beta Factory Racing for several years to get him to the GGN. “Going to Gotland with Steve to chase the GGN title feels great. With seven world titles in the bag and right now leader of the EnduroGP, the aim is, of course, for victory.

“However, Steve is humble about the competition and is aware of how hard it can be. Steve will be under the Beta Scandinavia tent with several of our other Beta Scandinavia NTEK Racing riders throughout the weekend.”

Gotland Grand National will see over 3000 starters from approximately 17 different nations on 26 - 28 October at the Tofta shooting range on Gotland.
