Results from day three of the 2024 Red Bull Romanics Hard Enduro Rallye where Sherco Racing’s Mario Roman put on a charge to claim the day three win ahead of Mani Lettenbichler looking set for win number five with one day remaining.

2024 Red Bull Romaniacs Off Road Day 3 in a nutshell:

  • As the 2024 Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rallye enters its final stage tomorrow, day three had was easier on the riders but had plenty of drama as both Jonny Walker and Graham Jarvis went out, the fight for the podium heated right up in Gold class, plus the Silver class shootout also goes to the wire.
  • After his day two win, Teo Kabakchiev was first rider away today but was quickly caught by Mani Lettenbichler leading a top five who set-off on a mission this morning. Mario Roman quickly joined Teo and Mani on the unbelievably steep “Via Ferata” hill Leatt Live Maniacs section which made good viewing as the three traded blows for track position.

  • The loose, steep climb was a spectacular and had some hair-raising lines to tip-toe across for the Gold class. Otherwiser the day was actually pretty mixed, not as hard as previous days and had some glorious third gear, full-bore blasts uphill climbs for most classes.
  • Mario’s mission today was to claim time back at the top of the time sheets and after following Lettenbichler passed Kabakchiev, settled into a rhythm away from the pack and matched the race leader for pace.
  • Mani rallied close to the finish to close the gap but Roman made it three winners in three days with a 1m26s advantage.
  • Lettenbichler still holds steady overall and looked the likely winner after he opened a 30-minute gap on day one. Now with 40 minutes advantage and one day to go he will say “anything can happen” but the most likely thing to happen is obvious, Mani claims a fifth Romanaics win tomorrow afternoon.
  • Roman’s charge today means a Sherco showdown with Kabakchiev on the final day. The pair are just 15 seconds apart overall – the first person to beat is your teammate, right boys?
  • A good but not quite good enough day today in the drier conditions sees Wade Young out of podium contention. The South African rider finished third today and gained advantage over Michael Walkner to create and around seven-minute gap in the fight for fourth.

Top five rider interviews

  • It was not a good day for two-times winner Jonny Walker who was looking good early but was forced to retire at the service after whacking his foot hard.
  • GOAT fans will also want to know that Graham Jarvis retired today too. The multiple winner of Romaniacs arrived at the ’24 event with broken ribs but despite climbing up into the top 10 after the epic day one, Graham decided the aches and pains were too much.
  • Speaking of old goats, Chris Birch turned it around on day three to record his first class victory of this year’s event. Only just mind you as the Kiwi clocked in just 11 seconds faster than ’23 Silver class winner Ben Wibberley. Kornel Ott remains in the Silver class lead but has a lot of pressure from Birch with one day to go. The Kiwi has 1m13s to close down on the final day with Patrick Riegler a further 40s behind which sets up a tight finish in this class.
  • It was a shorter day for most today and for the lower classes less effort physically overall with a fast finish and the Bronze boys and girls had a new winner today. Aussie Eligh Cobb topped a tight finish by 21 seconds ahead of David Ignat, and 1m31s ahead of Josh Kirby third. Kevin Gallas still holds a 13-minute Bronze class lead despite finishing fifth today with Kirby second and Mark Jackson holding third.
  • The Iron class leaderboard remains the same with Grecian Dhmhtrhs Margos taking another day win and finishing with 13-minutes clear of Peter Wuth and Mark Whyte 30 minutes down in third overall.
  • It’s similar story in the Atom class where Alexander Petroiu took yet another day win ahead of Dimitriy Reznitskiy and Valentin Ganea.
