Results from the 2025 Roof of Africa Hard Enduro in Lesotho where James Moore held off a final day onslaught from the Hard Enduro World Champion Mani Lettenbichler and Billy Bolt to claim a maiden overall HEWC win.

If day two was all about how fast you could navigate the trails, day three of the ’25 Roof of Africa reverted to type with more technical challenges and a tougher, extreme enduro sections.

It was a switch around which saw the leaderboard looking a bit more familiar with the HEWC elite back up the top of the time sheets and turning the tables on the locals who’d run riot 24 hours earlier.

Topping the time sheets on this last day was the guy who topped the Time Trial on Day 1, Billy Bolt. Billy claimed the day but had to work for it, starting from 13th place after his day two result (13th), the Husqvarna rider relatively quickly made up time and ground to trade blows with early leader Teo Kabakchiev on the Sherco.

There was still a fun trail ride feel about things as top five were all on the same minute. Bolt and Lettenbichler went on to stretch a lead and by the end of almost five hours riding, finished just under one minute apart. Billy’s day win, meant third overall at the Roof and with it second place in the 2025 HEWC standings.

Already crowned world champion at the previous round in Germany, Lettenbichler also had to make up time from P11 off the start today to challenge Moore for the overall but the gap wasn’t enough and the KTM rider has to settle for second place.

Despite at least one navigation error on day three and a sixth place result, James Moore had done enough yesterday to hold a margin and claims a maiden HEWC victory by 1:52. The youngster stepped into the shoes of Wade Young (absent from this race due to injury) making it a 10-year winning streak for the South Africans at “The Mother of Hard Enduro”.

Mario Roman took fourth place ahead of Mitch Brightmore, both also finding their feet on the final day to leap frog the South African gaggle of riders ahead of them overnight. The X-Grip Racing rider missed out on the battle with Billy for runner-up but secures a creditable third place overall in the HEWC series for 2025.

Teo Kabakchiev was also looking strong an dlead for large chunkl of the fianl day but a big crash, falling back own a slick waterfall, brought a painful end to his race and season which has already included a broken wrist in Romania.

Grant Burton Durham took the Silver class win, with Sandra Gomez in tenth place and best-placed female rider. Stiaan van Den Heever was the victor in Bronze class and Gideon Malherbe the Iron winner.
