Matthias Walkner will race the 2022 Red Bull Romaniacs, Hard Enduro World Championship round five, on a KTM Rally bike, taking on Pol Tarres on the Yamaha Tenere 700 in the bronze class.

Three weeks away from round five of the 2022 Hard Enduro World Championships in Sibiu, Romania, the organisers have announced former Dakar Rally and Rally-Raid World Champion Matthias Walkner will take on the four-day extreme enduro “rallye”.

Walkner is said to be bringing his KTM 450 Rally Factory bike to the races where he will line-up alongside Pol Tarres in the Bronze class.

Tarres has already completed the Bronze class in 18th place on a Tenere in 2021 but Walkner, despite his vast experience in Rally, is in for a shock – especially as the prologue returns this year and it is mandatory for qualification to the main race.

The 19th edition of Red Bull Romaniacs will also see former five-time podium finisher (and 2010 winner) Chris Birch return to the Carpathian mountains riding the big KTM 500 EXC-F in the Silver Class.
