Canadian engine specialists BRC Racing are set to go into production with their 500cc, fuel-injected TPi two-stroke kits – the direct replacement power and capacity upgrades for KTM and Husqvarna off-road models.

BRC sent Enduro21 these images of their MY17-21 TPi engine kit assembled and on the bench in their shop. The TPi engine kit will sit alongside BRC’s MY07-16 kit for carburetted engines getting set to go into production and start making their ways out the factory door. (Note: KTM first produced fuel-injected engines for their EXC range from model year 2018 onwards, BRC use “MY17-21” for their TPi kit which fits bikes built from 2017 onwards).

The BRC kits are designed to be a straight swap and upgrade for KTM and Husqvarna models delivering a claimed 60+ horsepower and 50 ft-lb of torque. The engines run with the standard six-speed transmissions and feature new counter-balance shafts to smooth out the power.

“Our process is that once we have all our delivery dates for a production run, we let our customers know and then they send a deposit.” Explains Riley Will from BRC. “Once we are ready to ship and have their various options, customers send the balance.”

The production plan is that MY07-16 Kits start arriving in May 2021, with MY17-21 kits following on in June. They hope also to have Yamaha YZ 500 two-stroke kits out in time for Christmas – what a present!

Aussie know-how

Two Stroke Performance (TSP) is responsible for the TPi mapping necessary for the BRC500 MY17-21 engines to work flawlessly. Located in Australia, they are renowned in reflashing the TPi ECUs for more effective fuelling ignition timing and oil injection on the stock TPi bikes and have been working consistently with BRC on this project.

All the BRC500 MY17-21 TPi Kits will come with a TSP reflash included in the purchase price along with exhaust systems tailored for the bike. The plan is that customers will go to (or send parts to) the TSP centre closest to them to get the reflash work done.
