Sidi adds a new boot to the top of their off-road range, the Crossair X,  an evolution of the Crossair boots Billy Bolt wore to victory in the last three FIM SuperEnduro World Championships – Enduro21 drops a few muddy test laps.

Enduro21 ducks away from motocross days normally but with an obvious cross-over between MX and enduro when it comes to footwear, the invite to the launch of Sidi’s new boots was an obvious one to accept.

Spinning a few laps in the new Crossair X, albeit in some tough conditions to say the least, was a chance to get familiar with the new model boot, put it to the test and see what Mr Bolt’s feet have been up to in there.

Merging all the best bits from the other boots in their range, including the Crossair and Crossfire 3 SRS, the Crossair X supersedes them both to become the pinnacle offering in the Sidi line-up in terms of both tech, performance, and price tag.

Sidi Crossair X technical highlights:

  • High-density impact protectors shield the entire boot for superior safety.
  • Fibreglass reinforced ankle support ensures stability upon heavy landings and high impact scenarios.
  • Three-point flexion control system protects against dangerous hyper-extensions and flexions while allowing natural, unrestricted movement.
  • MXGP and supercross proven Materiis® compound sole that was developed for superior grip and durability to provide complete control and grip.
  • Customisable calf area and ergonomic design. The adjustable plate and sleek shape provide unparalleled comfort and a secure fit, giving riders enhanced control of their bike.
  • Long-lasting buckles that offer an adjustable, secure fit, and are also replaceable.

Sidi say that the new Crossair X are the most advanced dirt bike boots they’ve ever made and set a new standard for combining protection and flexibility at the lowest possible weight. Bold claims but, as always, the proof is in the riding so once the new boots were buckled up (and we can safely say that these things were light from the first moment!), it was time to hit the track.

The conditions of which were testing to say the least, and given that new boots, despite what some other manufacturers claim, always need a little breaking in. For example the buckles on any new boots  need adjusting after the first ride (and these Sidis were no exception).

However, with the focus on remaining upright through the deep ruts, it was easy to not actually pay too much attention to the boots. Which is anotehr way of saying we didn’t notice these were brand new and changed gear with no missed shifts and braked as normal in pretty muddy conditions. Safe to say initial impressions were pretty good.

Due to deteriorating track conditions, the day was cut short, but we managed to walk away with a new set of the Crossair X boots to try out properly over the winter months. Expect a more detailed review from me sometime early on in 2025.

Available in four colour options, the Crossair X covers all the bases. There’s a pretty wild ‘messy cyan’ design with classic colours, black, white, and a pretty patriotic (for many countries), red/white/blue option to round out the range. Sadly, no enduro sole is currently available but when I enquired, this may well be an option in the future.

The Crossair X boots are available now, worldwide, in Euro sizes 39-50.

Price: £549.99 / €619.00 / $569.99
