After also taking victory in the first round of the 2024 24MX European Enduro Championship at the end of March in Castiglion Fiorentina, Italy, Andrea Verona takes a double victory ahead of Matej Skuta and Davide Soreca on both days.

Ahead of the Italian EnduroGP in Bettola this coming weekend, the European Enduro Championship had some serious interlopers. That included the GASGAS Factory Racing rider Andrea Verona currently occupying second place in EnduroGP and leading the E2 classification taking on his second Euro round of the season, again on home soil – kinda home soil in San Marino.

Against the stunning backdrop of San Marino and under a blue sky and a blazing sun, the second round of the European season, organised by Federazione Sanmarinense Motociclismo and Moto Club Titano, got underway on Saturday with three special stages. A Cross Test, set on a beautiful grassy field with counter-banked curves; an Enduro Test inside a forest and an Extreme Test, whose layout, along a dry stream at this time of year, featured technical and spectacular steps.

Day 1

Among the great protagonists of this race, Andrea Verona stood out, who took advantage of this race to prepare for the next round of the EnduroGP World Championship in Italy this coming weekend. And the truth is that the GASGAS rider did not disappoint and rode at the pace expected of him, already beating Matej Skuta on the first day. Another world champion, Davide Soreca, from the Kawasaki team, took third place on the general podium.

Verona also won the E2 category ahead of Britons Daniel Mundell (TNT Corse) and Alex Walton. Skuta, meanwhile, won in his Junior2 category, followed by Diego Haution (Atomic Moto) and Riccardo Fabris. While Soreca, third overall, took the win in E1, thus consolidating his lead in the overall championship, with Davide Mei and Yann Dupic behind him.

In the E3 category, Frenchman Anthony Geslin of the Atomic team dominated the first day, followed by Italians Mattia Capuzzo and Mirko Ciani. In Junior1, Frenchman Killian Lunier took first place without any problems, ahead of Nicolò Paolucci and Samuel Davies. Pietro Scardina (Specia Team) returned to the European Championship with a victory in the Youth category, more than a minute ahead of Gabin Allemand. The podium was completed by Scardina's Specia teammate Riccardo Pasquato.

Unchallenged in the Senior category, Maurizio Micheluz imposed his authority ahead of the German Nico Rambow and the Slovak Martin Gottvald. In the women's category, the American Rachel Gutish (Sherco) made her debut in this championship by taking the victory after beating the reigning champion, Tanjia Schlosser, and the Swede Linnea Akesson.

Day 2

Verona showed its pace by dominating the second day, this time under a scorching sun, even more intense than the previous day, with dust as a travelling companion on the three laps that the riders had to complete.

Andrea was again the fastest, followed by Matej Skuta in second place. Davide Soreca completed the podium, taking his fourth win of the season in E1, ahead of the Finn Hermanni Haljala and Davide Mei. Verona, of course, was the winner in E2, followed by the British duo Daniel Mundell and Alex Walton. Anthony Geslin (Atomic Moto) took a significant victory in the E3 class, with Mattia Capuzzo in second place and Mirko Ciani in third.

The French anthem resounded again at the Junior 1 category awards ceremony thanks to Killian Lunier, who was unbeatable in San Marino. Behind him, Sam Davies and Matej Skorepa completed the podium on this second day.

The imperessive young Czech rider Matej Skuta, in addition to his second place in the overall standings, repeated his victory in Junior 2, followed by Diego Haution (Atomic Moto) and the Finn Samuli Puhakainen.

The Youth category was again dominated by Pietro Scardina (Team Specia), who achieved an excellent 1-1 in San Marino. Behind Scardina, the duel for the remaining two podium places was centred on the duel between Gabin Allemand and Riccardo Pasquato (Team Specia), with both finishing a few hundredths of a second behind the Frenchman Allemand.

The debutant this weekend in the competition, Rachel Gutish, also won on the second day, although this time with a slim advantage of only 3 seconds over the German Tanja Schlosser. Third place went to Linnea Akesson.

Maurizio Micheluz continued his winning streak, being the fastest rider in the Senior category in San Marino, once again followed by Nico Rambow and Martin Gottvald.

The San Marino race marked the debut of Davide Cabass as winner of the first round of the 24MX 50cc Trophy season, with the young Italian taking his little Fantic to the top of the podium.

The European Enduro Championship now takes a couple of months off before the third round in Sipoo, Finland, on August 17 and 18.
