Opening round of the 2020 European Enduro Championship cancelled in Italy due to Coronavirus.

Round one of the 2020 European Enduro Championship, scheduled for April 4-5 in Castel di Tora, Italy, has been postponed. Ongoing issues relating to the Coronavirus outbreak mean the government has banned all sporting activities staging in Italy.

The statement issued today, March 9, says the current situation in Italy means the event cannot be run on the original date due to the government clampdown but it is hoped it will be re-scheduled later in the 2020 season.

The ban has resulted in the cancellation of the opening two rounds of the 2020 Italian Enduro Championship, a round of the MXGP World Championship and many other major sporting events besides.

The statement from the European Enduro Championship organisers is brief but to the point:

We are sorry to inform you that it will not be possible to hold the European Enduro Championship race in Italy at the beginning of April as planned.

The health regulations do not allow an event of this size at the moment.

Currently an alternative date is being planned and agreed with the riders and teams.

European Enduro schedule 2020:

April 4/5 of Castel di Tora, Italy (postponed)

May 16/17 Ber, Hungary

June 27/28 Kielce, Poland

August 7-9 Plasy, Czech Republic
