Registration for the 2021 Hixpania Hard Enduro, round seven of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, is now open – two days of Spanish extreme enduro await the riders.

After a one-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hixpania Hard Enduro sees a welcome return to the calendar this October 1-3. Back for its fifth edition, this year’s Hixpania is open to amateur and pro riders – with four classes – and promises to be a hot one as the penultimate round of the 2021 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.

Registrations open August 25 with a reduced price of €180 until the August 31 for all competitive classes pro (Knights), silver (Archers), bronze (Squires) as well as for the non-competitive ‘Hixpanos’ class – which doesn’t need a racing license.

From September 1 the price will go up to €220 with a maximum number of riders set at 400, start places could sell out so get on it if you want to be at the start line.

Changes in the format

For 2021 the Hixpania Hard Enduro will see some changes in its format due to the ongoing health restrictions affecting Spain. Sadly that means no prologue run through the streets of Aguilar de Campoo which has been so spectacular in the past.

The racing will instead kick off the Friday, October 1, with a sighting lap and a qualification run to decide the next day’s starting order. On Saturday riders will tackle the Campoo Extreme race around the dam of Aguilar that will award the 70 starting places for Sunday’s main race.

Come Sunday 50 ‘Knights’ plus the top 15 Archers and 5 Squires are in the main final, the ‘Mitas El Camino Perdido’.

At the time of writing, it’s not clear if fans will be allowed, the decision is pending on the restrictions applied by the health authorities and the number of cases closer to the event.
